Blackboard Course Rosters

Student enrollments typically come available in Blackboard Courses 7-10 days before the first day of the semester. To confirm that your Blackboard Enrollments align with your student enrollments in Course Web, follow this process.

Confirm Blackboard and Course Web Rosters Align—when student enrollments for your courses are available in Blackboard, please confirm that your roster in Blackboard matches your Course Web Roster. Please regularly confirm alignment between your Course Web Roster and your Blackboard Roster throughout the semester. We cannot stress the importance of this step enough.

Here are some important things to know about roster alignment:

  • Blackboard rosters should always include every student that you see on your Course Web Roster. If your Blackboard Roster is missing an active student that you see on your Course Web Roster, please alert us by submitting a helpdesk ticket with the course name and CRN and the missing student name and ID.
  • If your Blackboard roster includes active students who are no longer on your Course Web Roster, please notify use via a helpdesk ticket, including the CRN of the course and the student's name and ID.
  • Blackboard may include some inactive students who are no longer in Course Web. Inactive students are marked with this slash/gray symbol on your roster.

Inactive students remain in Blackboard for an indefinite amount of time, due to various financial aid and enrollment requirements. Most of these students are removed from your courses throughout the year. For students who remain in Blackboard as “Inactive,” you have the option to hide them from your Gradebook view, although they will remain on the Blackboard Roster.

Hiding Inactive Students from Your Gradebook

To hide inactive students from your Gradebook view, follow the steps described in this article: Hide Inactive Students in Your Gradebook article.
