What does it mean when a new email says UNVERIFIED?

An ‘Unverified’ message tag in an email is a new warning that MS has started using to tell the recipient that the email 'might' be spoofed (impersonated) so extra caution is advisable.  Double-check any links before clicking them and be alert to any attachments.

It does not necessarily mean the email is dangerous and should be deleted, just to be a little extra cautious.  O365 was unable to verify it's authenticity.  It could simply mean the senders email system hasn’t been setup correctly.  This is usually the case and is common when an outside service is contracted to send mass email on a companies behalf.

But, when in doubt, simply click the Delete button and it is immediately deleted.
